No, it doesn’t. We have many cohabitating foster parents, from a variety of backgrounds, who are neither married nor in a civil partnership. The assessment process is the same.

You will have a supervising social worker who will visit you regularly and whom you can reach out to for support. The child will also have their own social worker who they can talk to.

Yes, the children usually read the profiles of prospective carers.

We will work closely with social workers, the child, the school, therapeutic services and yourself as a carer to answer any questions they might have.

Yes, you can. All prospective carers complete a thorough assessment, which includes background checks and medical checks so this will all be part of the discussions.
