A young boy sits in a wheelchair smiling with an older male adult who is sat on the sofa. The adult is holding a rucksack open to look at the contents.

Anyone can foster, even you.

A foster carer and a child are sharing a high-five in a kitchen setting. The adult, a woman stands beside the seated child. The child, a teenage boy with curly hair, has an open textbook and a notebook on the table in front of him. Another person, partially visible on the left, is also seated at the table.

Could you offer a supportive, loving home to a vulnerable child?

Local children need local people like you. We are looking for foster carers in and around northeast London to provide a home for children who can’t live with their own families. We’re always looking for potential foster carers and pride ourselves on attracting people from diverse and unique backgrounds.

I love fostering. The children may have suffered neglect or experienced domestic violence. They have had difficult starts to life. As foster carers our job is to show that life can be good.

Foster Parent, Barking & Dagenham

I felt anxious, excitement – a whole range of emotions! I couldn’t sleep the night before she came. And when she did come – she was very meek, very quiet, walked through the door… and I had this overwhelming sense of “I am so happy that you are here”

Foster Parent, Redbridge

The social workers and staff are very considerate and treat you as if they have known you for a long time. Anyone who is a responsible adult can become a foster carer if they have a spare room and meet the requirements. I am happy I am able to give back what has been given to me in this country.

Foster Parent, Havering

It is good to know that, with Newham, you are never alone in having to deal with difficult situations, arising from being in foster carer.

Foster Parent, Newham

I first gained experience of caring for children with disabilities by working in a special school. When I started fostering, it felt like a natural progression to care for children with disabilities. I really enjoy it and I get to learn new things all the time

Foster Parent, Tower Hamlets

We got to take him on his first holiday, his first plane and the first time he went to a beach. We have given him firsts for a lot of things and that has been truly gifted back to us, to see how far he has come from when he arrived to where we are now.
