Training and support at every stage

You don’t need any qualifications to start your fostering journey, just compassion, time, and a willingness to learn. You’ll be supported from the very beginning, from our initial chat, to the Skills to Foster preparation course, which gives a realistic insight into fostering and space to ask questions. You can also be paired with an experienced foster carer to get friendly, honest and hands-on peer support during your application.

Once you’re an approved foster carer, support continues in practical, everyday ways, so you can feel confident through each placement. Explore the structured package available to foster carers, including guidance from a dedicated supervising social worker, training and development as your experience grows, out‑of‑hours advice when you need it, and opportunities to connect with other carers through local networks and peer support.
